Jumpin’ Jacket’s Batman – March 20, 2006

Most of us know that Billy is slightly obsessed with jackets.  He normally buys one every season.  That’s like 4 new jackets a YEAR!  OK maybe I am exaggerating, but he does seem to want to buy one every time the temperature changes.  Those who know him can back me up here.

I, on the other hand, will wear the same jacket for years.

Without fail as soon as the whether warmed up last week Bill started to plant the seed.  “I think I need a new spring jacket.”  And “What do you think? Should we go shopping?” became daily conversation starters. Needless to say we hit the mall yesterday.  Bill searched and searched.  It was almost as if he needed to just buy a jacket for principle sake even though he didn’t like any of them.  He found one he could settle on and purchased a new jacket at Macy’s after 3 hours of torturous considerations.

On the opposite end of the spectrum…

I wasn’t even in the hunt for a new jacket.  My goal for the day was just to walk around the mall and watch Ryan explore this new environment.  He is so fascinated by everything it’s just so fun to watch!  Anyway, I walk into Hecht’s which is having an 80% off sale to get rid of their stock.  The store is moving.  There are piles of clothes and junk in the corners as people rummage through and try to find something they can buy to take advantage of the massive sale.  I see one lonely rack with two black coats in the area that used to be, what I call, the fur and fancy clothes section.

I think to myself, “humpf, I can use a new nice black coat”

Since I lost a lot of weight, my nice coats are all now way too big. I walk over to the rack and low and behold they have my size.  I try it on and it’s beautiful! I look at Bill and ask what he thinks. At this point he is still upset that he hasn’t found his new jacket yet so he can care less.

I look down at the price tag and this simple, elegant black coat is $335 dollars!  WHAT?!?  That’s insane! But with the 80% off it’s 67 bucks! Of course I bought it, who could resist?

So both of us ended up with new jackets!

I know, a long strange story, but I was in the mood to write and I never pass up an opportunity to make fun of Bill!

What a Nice Day! - March 10, 2006

I thought it was going too fast last month, this month it's going even FASTER! Ryan in pulling up and standing on anything he can get his hands on and now he babbles like crazy! The difference from day to day is AMAZING!

We finally had a nice day here in Maryland. It's in the 70's and sunny. I took the dog and the baby outside to play in the yard. I'm sure they will be filling you in shortly on their fun day!

It's Going Toooooo Fast! - February 15, 2006

Sorry I haven't had much time to post. I'm still getting into the groove of the semester.

I did want to share one of my first "it's going too fast" moments. Two day's ago I was reading Ryan his nightly story when he grabbed the top of crib and pulled himself right up to my eye level! Now, I know we probably should have preemptively lowered the mattress by now, but you know Bill, he will procrastinate until the cows come home (I had to get a Bill dig in somewhere). Anyway, I yelled for Bill to come and see and then we spent the next half an hour lowering the mattress. For some reason this was one of those weird milestones that made me stop and realize how much time has already passed. It's like yesterday I couldn't believe I was pregnant and today I have an 8th month old!

It really is going too fast!

No, Really, I'm not a Bad Driver... - January 18, 2006

I'm just LOSING it! Yesterday I was pulling out of the garage, rushing to get Ryan to daycare and get to work on time for a meeting when CRASH!!! I knocked the mirror off the passenger side door. What is WRONG with me? For the first time in my life I have a nice care, a really nice car, and I'm beating the CRAP out of it. I blow two tires while wrecking the suspension and now I have a side view mirror hanging from a string, literally.

But seriously I'm not a bad driver! It's all Billy's fault! He pulled the car into the garage crooked. Yeah, umm that's it's, all Billy's fault.

Mommy's Sick - January 9, 2006

I'm suffering through my first cold as a mom and let me tell you, NOT FUN! Of course at the same time Ryan also has a cold and he is getting his first teeth! I can't complain though, he's been really good about it and letting me get some much needed sleep.

Of course getting sick lands on one my busiest weeks. I've been driving to Rockville for training (for those of you who don't know, that's right outside of DC and a murderous drive), working on my new course and teaching other faculty members how to use Dreamweaver! Needless to say I don't have much time for anything else this week, so I'm cutting this short.

Yes, it stinks when your kid gets sick, even worse when they give it to you.... Drink lots of OJ and vitamin C!!!!! Call me if you need anything! DEB

New Years Update - January 1, 2006

I know I've said this before but I really can't believe it's 2006. This will be the year I turn 30 and my son turns 1. Everyone says it goes fast but this it too fast! I feel like I was just pregnant yesterday.

If you are following my Weigh Watchen site you know for the first time in my life I don't have to make loosing weight my New Years Resolution! That feels great! So what kind of life changes will I make in 2006? Well I do plan on working out more, where I will find the time I have no idea! I'm taking a break from school as I will be returning to teaching full time, which scares the heck out of me! I had a hard enough time keeping my head above water just working part-time and bringing the baby to work with me and finding child care.

Let's see, I really don't have anything else to post. Christmas was fun! We had a blast with Ryan and got to visit all the grandparents. You really couldn't ask for anything more!

I have to run, Bill is doing all the laundry and I think he's getting mad that I'm "playing on the computer"! I will get him to post sometime today or tomorrow, promise!
